IOCB Boston is now open after a memorable ceremony

Czech and U.S. dignitaries joined our team to inaugurate the first outpost of Czech science in the United States.

IOCB Boston is now open after a memorable ceremony

On a clear October afternoon, IOCB Boston officially opened its doors at the heart of the Longwood Medical Area. The ribbon cutting marked the culmination of two years of planning between IOCB Prague leadership, the David Sabatini lab and partners across the Boston life-science ecosystem.

The ceremony brought together representatives of the Czech Academy of Sciences, the Czech embassy, members of the Boston scientific community, and friends and family of the founding team. After remarks from director David Sabatini and IOCB Prague leadership, guests toured the new wet lab, mass spectrometry suite and shared workspaces.

IOCB Boston now joins the global IOCB network as the institute’s first U.S. branch — a long-term commitment to fundamental research at the chemistry / biology interface.
